Hospital Design & Construction Consulting
GHS serves international clients who seek American hospitals as partners in developing new hospitals around the world or in providing care to international patients in American hospitals. This is how we do it:
GHS is based in Washington, D.C. and maintains close relationships with international development banks, including the World Bank, the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, the European Bank of Reconstruction & Development, the Asian Development Bank and many others. GHS helps clients understand financing opportunities using developmental and diplomatic channels.
An example of our healthcare networking: GHS was approached by an international ministry of health who wished to provide its citizens with access to American hospitals. We worked as a liaison with hospitals in New York, Washington and Miami and served as a “patient navigator” and “medical concierge” for the Ministry of Health. GHS also arranged for medical evacuation services for high-acuity cases.
An example of our business development services: GHS was approached by a group of European investors interested in developing a specialty hospital in an EU nation. GHS found an American hospital company interested in investing and managing the facility. GHS is now working with development banks to secure the financing for its development.
GHS works hard to maintain an extremely connected medical network, collaborating with trade associations in the washington area and others along the east coast.
Sometimes GHS works on projects as big as building new hospitals and sometimes as relatively easy as helping international hospital clients find an American-trained hospital executive or clinician to run an international facility. We work with American hospitals, medical schools and our network of Washington relationships to find the right person for the right nation.
GHS works with leading hospitals and medical schools to maintain a specialist talent pool who can be deployed on a secondment basis to hospital clients around the world. Most secondment assignments are for at least one year. Secondment services offer our international clients flexibility and access to American-trained specialists.
GHS works closely with developers, new investment groups and existing healthcare providers around the world to provide them with experienced insight and practical support during the development and construction of new healthcare projects.
Our consulting services span the full spectrum of the capital development and operations process, including: initial budgeting and programming; conceptual and detailed design development, oversight of the construction phase; and the eventual maintenance and ongoing physical management of a healthcare facility. GHS helps clients identify the critical operating requirements for new projects, and then works with them to program, budget, design, build, outfit and set up the optimal physical spaces necessary to successfully launch these new service offerings. GHS’s design and construction team is equipped to support the full range of hospital programming, and has particular experience helping clients expand the scope of their long-term care, rehabilitative medicine, outpatient therapy and other post-acute care programming.
Our approach is from that of an owner’s representative, and we continually work to keep the focus on the big picture throughout the design and build process, with the operational needs of the owner-operator and the return on investment for each owner paramount to our methods.
